Chris Matthews wanted to compare President Obama's terms to those of former American presidents and welcomed Douglas Brinkley and Sean Wilentz on his Monday program to hear what they had to say. As Matthews tossed the first question to Brinkley, he said,

You know you look at the accomplishments they come off the tongue. You know first African-American elected and re-elected, affordable care, killed Bin Laden, stopped two wars, all the economic stuff coming out of the fiscal financial crisis. How's he stackin' up now? 

Brinkley responded that Obama is on par with former President Bill Clinton and later in the segment Wilentz stated that Obama's biggest mistake was over promising and under delivering.
