Maroon 5 Cancels NC Shows, But Heading to Anti-LGBT Russia

Virtue-signaling at its finest.

The pop band Maroon 5 has joined the chorus of other musical acts including Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, and Bryan Adams and are canceling a set of upcoming shows in North Carolina to protest the so-called controversial bathroom bill.

From the band's website:

We have announced that we will be canceling our upcoming shows in Charlotte and Raleigh, North Carolina because of the recent passage of the HB2 legislation. This was a difficult decision for us to make as a band. We don’t want to penalize our fans in North Carolina by not performing for them, but in the end it comes down to what we feel is morally right.

And just to "prove" they are consistent in taking the moral high ground, Maroon 5 will be heading to Russia this next week -- the home of the "gay propaganda law," which punishes anyone distributing materials that would promote same-sex relationships to minors. Not to mention the outlawing of same-sex marriage in the country which is so vehemently against anything non-traditional that violence against the LGBT community occurs regularly.

Yet, Maroon 5 is ignoring these facts to get to its Russian fans. There must be less guilt with a pocket full of rubles rather than the apparently homophobic U.S. dollar.

Virtue is a tricky business.
