A charity event at a golf club took a bizarre twist after a performer sang a song celebrating the death of Michael Brown in front of a group of retired cops.

At the charity golf event thrown by retired LAPD officer Joe Myers, Gary Fishell, a member of the lodge and former private investigator for the government, performed a parody rendition of “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown” at the Elks Lodge in Glendale, CA but changed the words to celebrate Michael Brown’s death.

And Michael punched in through the door

And Michael looked like some old Swiss cheese

Deadest man in the whole damn town

His whole life's long gone

Deader than a roadkill dog

Now, members of the lodge including many trustees are upset and want an investigation. "It's deplorable and inappropriate and the Lodge will take disciplinary action against [Fishell] and possibly the people who organized this event," one trustee told TMZ. 

But Fishell’s lawyer says although it was in poor taste Fishell is nothing but a “goofball who writes funny songs.” 

TMZ asked Fishell’s lawyer why he would sing his song in a room full of cops and he answered that “he thought the room would get a kick out of it.”

Myers told TMZ that even though he was the one who organized the event, there is no way he could restrict what Fishell sang about because this is a free America. 

"How can I dictate what he says in a song?" Myers said, "This is America. We can say what we want. This is a free America."
