A new Rock the Vote ad featuring Lil Jon, Lena Dunham, Whoopi Goldberg and other celebrities aims to encourage Millennials to "turn out" to vote in the upcoming midterm elections. And there's no better way to encourage Americans to get out to the polls than with the rapper "comically" smoking a giant fake doobie and the can't-ever-keep-her-clothes-on Dunham dancing around in her underwear.
Complete with a trendy hashtag, the ad asks #TURNOUTFORWHAT. Young Americans, and Hollywood celebrities alike, list the various reasons why they are "turning out:"
Education, marriage equality, reproductive rights, human rights, prison reform, student loans, women's rights, deforestation, global warming awareness, racial equality
Flashy images are used to provoke a response including a firearm with a padlock on the trigger and a world globe with an ice pack on top -- an apparent metaphor that the world is sick and needs help.
Over his own dizzyingly repetitive rap track, Lil Jon laughingly admits he's "turning out for the legalization of marijuana."
The ad culminates with actor/comedian Fred Armisen wisecracking, "I'm turning out because I want to impress my friends. That's the only reason to ever do anything."
