In Light of Border Patrol Murder, ABC Dismisses Trump's Commitment to Wall as 'Political Theater'

"Congress shows no willingness to fund it."

Over the weekend, Border Patrol Agent Rogelio Martinez was tragically murdered after what authorities believe to have been an ambush on Martinez and his partner. In response, ABC wasted no time in being condescending toward President Trump over his commitment to erect a border wall.

On Good Morning America Monday, co-host George Stephanopoulos began the segment with a reference to Trump’s insistence on building a wall along a portion of the nation’s southern perimeter:

“We’re gonna move on now to an investigation underway in Texas after a border patrol agent killed on duty....President Trump weighed in overnight, repeating his call to build a border wall.”

As Stephanopoulos recalled Trump’s continued pledge to keep his campaign promise of securing the border, the screen read “Trump Reacts to Border Patrol Agent’s Killing: ‘We Will, And Must, Build a Wall.’”

Correspondent Tom Llamas reported, “Texas leaders, including Governor Abbott and Senator Cruz, are describing this as an attack…U.S. Border Patrol and FBI are launching a full investigation for potential suspects....It’s still not clear what actually happened to the agents, and there are reports that there were no shootings involved, but we’re still trying to figure out exactly what happened.”

Next, Stephanopoulos turned to Trump, presenting the President's dedication to the idea of a wall, and then deriding it as undoable:

“In the meantime, the President did tweet on this overnight, repeating his call for a border wall…Congress shows no willingness to fund it right now, but they are building prototypes.”

A tweet from President Trump was displayed, stating, “Border Patrol Officer killed at Southern Border, another badly hurt. We will seek out and bring to justice those responsible. We will, and must, build the wall!”

Llamas joined in, first of all pointing out that the wall was a binding promise between Trump and his constituents, and then dismissing Trump’s vocal commitment to the wall as nothing more than disingenuous, grandstanding lip service:

“You know, this is one of his keystone promises — that border wall, along the southern border...”

And the dismissal:

“But George, you’re right — a lot of critics call this ‘just political theater.’”

The political bias of the mainstream media is stunning. They will stop at nothing to use any and all turns of events as catalysts for attacks on our President. If Trump builds a wall, the Left claims he is racist for wanting to keep out illegal Mexicans; if, on the other hand, one of those Mexicans murders an agent and the wall would have prevented the travesty, they claim Trump is not really serious about building the wall to protect us. There is no rhyme or reason to the media's interpretation of the facts; there is only an agenda.

But America is not fooled. They weren't fooled last November, they weren't fooled Monday, and to quote The Who, they won't get fooled again, no matter what slant ABC tries to sell.
