The script for the latest episode of Fox’s end-of-the-world comedy Last Man On Earth was nothing short of a liberal fantasy.
The show, created by and starring SNL alum Will Forte, takes place after a worldwide pandemic seemingly takes the lives of every human on Earth save one man: Forte’s character, Phil “Tandy” Miller. As the series progresses, the audience finds out that Phil isn’t alone and continually discovers that others have survived.
In its latest episode, viewers are given a peek back to a time when the outbreak was just starting to take its toll. The disease did not discriminate and even took out the American president: Mike Pence. It was never explained what happened to Donald Trump, but the show seemed to take great delight in showing the funeral for Pence, as well as other Republicans and members of Trump’s cabinet, including Paul Ryan, Rex Tillerson, Steve Mnuchin, Jeff Sessions, and Betsy DeVos.
Newsbusters noted a few details the writers overlooked and most viewers probably didn’t even notice:
Their little joke isn’t even well researched. It should be Jefferson Beauregard Sessions, not “Jeffery.” In the presidential line of succession, they also skip the President pro tempore of the Senate, currently Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), who is third in line, and Secretary of Defense James Mattis, who is sixth. After Attorney General Sessions (number 7), they skip to Secretary of Education Secretary DeVos who is number 10 - liberals love to hate on them both so I'm sure that's why they were included out of order. Also, Vice President Pence’s current age is 57, while Sec. DeVos is 59, and yet they each are said to die at the age of 61, which is obviously impossible on this epidemic timeline.
It’s understandable, though. They had a story to tell, including showing the caskets of the deceased, something Newsbusters described as “shameful” and hoped wasn’t “footage taken from real military funerals.”
Yes, yes, we know the pandemic most likely killed all the Democrats in office, too, but that tidbit of information was left out. Perhaps they’ll address it next week. Or never.
