Tuesday night, Jon Stewart invited on "Senior Black Corespondent" Larry Wilmore to discuss racism in America following the Ferguson grand jury's recent decision to not indict Officer Darren Wilson for killing black teenager Michael Brown in self-defense. Predictably, the conversation amounted to little more than two leftists exchanging spit wads of political correctness in place of rational dialog.
The segment began when Stewart asked Wilmore his thoughts on conservative pundits (black and white) suggesting that black on black crime poses the greatest threat to black Americans, not trigger-happy police officers. Wilmore said: "[those people] should probably go f*ck themselves."
After considerable cheers from Stewart's audience, Wilmore continued his "intelligent" response.
"First of all, can we quit calling it 'black on black crime,'" said Wilmore. "It's just crime, okay."
Wilmore then went on to sarcastically suggest that "black on black crime" is a "black on black conversation" that has not been swept under the rug in those communities.
"Just because you're not hearing about it, doesn't mean it's not happening," said Wilmore. "Just go to any black church on a Sunday."
Stewart then asked Wilmore if he believed that "black on black crime" is just a smoke-screen to undermine the Ferguson protestors. No prizes for guessing Wilmore's response.
"I have a dream, Jon" said Wilmore, "that one day, the actions a few sh*tty white people will be seen as discrediting their entire race."
Asked if racism could ever end in America, Wilmore simply said, "We won't end it, the world's always been like this. It's part of our DNA. We're raceaholics, Jon. We will always be in recovery, the best we can hope for is to manage it."
Larry Wilmore will be hosting The Nightly Show in January in place of The Colbert Report.
