Jon Stewart Blames GOP for Shutdown: 'Don't Fart And Point At The Dog'

"The party of personal responsibility ain't taken none."

On comedian Jon Stewart's Daily Show, funnyman Stewart lamented the "party of personal responsibility ain't taken none" regarding the government shutdown.

He played a clip of House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) taking to Gerorge Stephanopoulos, where Boehner said that he discussed several times with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) the possibility of sending a "clean CR" to the Senate, albeit with cuts.  Stewart took this to mean that some agreement was made and that Boehner backed out of it. That, of course, was not true -- a "clean CR" with cuts would not be a "clean CR."

Wrapping up his segment, Stewart reiterated the GOP should "own the shutdown" by saying, "Don't fart and point at the dog."
