Jon Stewart’s #F*@kYouRush Campaign Explodes on Twittersphere

Left jumps on Stewart’s hashtag campaign against “quivering rage heap” Limbaugh

Monday, Jon Stewart blasted Rush Limbaugh for lampooning Michelle Obama’s “pathetic” #BringBackOurGirls campaign. In response, Stewart announced a new hashtag campaign: #F*@kYouRush. The leftist twittersphere loved it with dozens of tweets calling for the boycott of Limbaugh’s advertisers, the cancelling of his show, and, of course, a heavy helping of hate and loathing for conservatives.

Earlier that day Limbaugh had highlighted the futility and self-promotional nature of the left’s hashtag activism, particularly Michelle Obama’s “pathetic” role in leading the #BringBackOurGirls. Like many on the left, Stewart pretended offense to the conservative hashtag pushback, and attempted to launch a counterstrike on the “quivering rage heap” Limbaugh and those who didn't fall in line with the left’s latest symbolic campaign.

As Newsbusters reports, unsurprisingly, the media responded enthusiastically to Stewart’s anti-Rush campaign with The Huffington PostPoliticoMediate and Raw Story all covering the Twitter response to Stewart’s call to action. Wednesday, Twitter blew up with #F*@kYouRush tweets, many calling, like usual, for boycotts of Limbaugh’s advertisers and for the show to be outright banned, and, of course, taking the opportunity to excoriate other conservatives who dared call out the left's hashtag futility.
