James Franco, most notably known for his stoned Oscar-hosting flop and movies such as Pineapple Express, is experiencing an Anthony Weiner-type moment: he was found hitting on an underage girl. Lucy Clode, a 17-year-old girl Scottish girl visiting New York City with her mother, took a selfie with Franco after his acting appearance on Broadway. Clode claims Franco said she should tag him and when she posted the selfie to popular social media site Instagram, she tagged the star. Franco then allegedly started messaging her. When the young lady asked for verification that it was indeed the popular actor, he sent her a picture of himself. When she requested a picture of him holding up a piece of paper with her name he sent another selfie back while holding up a piece of paper where he had scrawled "Lucy."
The Daily Mail has screen shots of Franco asking Clode if she was single, how old she was and whether or not he should get the two a room at the Times Square hotel where she was staying with her mother. Franco did ask when her birthday was but the fact that the girl is not legal until May did not seem to dissuade the actor.
After the reports came out, Franco posted a now-deleted image of him holding up a sign that read "Why are you thirsty for underage ones?" The caption with his post read, "I'm not! I hope parents keep their teens away from me. Thank you."
There is some speculation that this could all be a big promotional stunt for Franco's new movie Palo Alto. In the film that has received rave reviews from critics and was featured at numerous film festivals, Franco plays a soccer coach who seduces a 14-year-old girl played by Emma Roberts.
