The Daily Caller is reporting that it's official: Donald Trump has been confirmed by the electoral college as President-Elect despite an onslaught of leftist pressure, including intimidation and threats, directed at the electors.
Trump received the clinching 270th vote once Texas’s 38 electoral votes were announced.
"Despite claims from Harvard professor Lawrence Lessig that more than 20 Republican electors were considering voting against Trump," wrote the Daily Caller, "these so-called 'faithless electors' largely failed to materialize, with state after state delivering its electoral votes exactly in accordance with the popular vote result."
The first faithless elector was not one who abandoned Trump for Hillary Clinton, but one from Maine who cast his vote for Sen. Bernie Sanders instead of Hillary. Another elector in Minnesota attempted the same thing, but Minnesota state law prohibits such faithless electors, so he was replaced by an alternate who supported Clinton.
The Electoral College vote will be confirmed by Congress in early January, and Trump will be inaugurated on January 20.
