Iran, Syria Ordered to Pay $178 Million to Family of Baby Killed in Terror Attack

A horrible tragedy but swift justice against countries that finance Hamas.

A district court in Washington D.C. ordered Iran and Syria to pay $178.5 million dollars to the family of U.S.-born Chaya Zissel Braun, a three-month-old who died at the hands of the Hamas terror organization which is heavily supported by both countries.

In October of 2014, Chaya and her parents were living in Israel and were returning to their home from visiting the Western Wall. As they and other passengers exited the light-rail car, a Hamas terrorist intentionally rammed his car into the crowd, hitting Chaya’s stroller and hurling the baby nearly 30 feet in the air before she landed on her head. The baby’s father was badly injured, and a 22-year-old woman was also killed.

According to UnitedWithIsrael.org, Hamas praised the attack and declared the terrorist a “martyr” and “son” of Hamas. He tried to flee but was shot by an Israeli officer.

The money was awarded to the mother and father of the child as well as her grandparents.

“This judgment sends a clear message that there is a very heavy price to be paid for financing terrorism and spilling innocent blood in the streets of Jerusalem,” said the family’s attorney, Nitsana Darshan-Leitner.

Her organization, the Israel Law Center- Shurat HaDin, resolves to “relentlessly pursue the Islamic Republic and Syria through all legal avenues in order to ensure that these judgments are enforced and that the terror victims achieve a measure of justice.”
