The NY Post is reporting that CNN anchors are engaged in a behind-the-scenes battle for departing host Piers Morgan's 9 p.m. time slot. Don Lemon, Bill Weir and Jake Tapper are all reportedly in the running, with Weir posting strong ratings covering the missing Malaysian flight as a fill-in for Morgan.
The Post, citing a source, describes the competition as especially heated:
CNN broadcasters are battling for Piers Morgan’s time slot.
We’re told Bill Weir, Don Lemon and Jake Tapper are in a “death match” for it, with one TV insider saying, “It’s like ‘The Hunger Games’ at CNN, a fight to the death between Weir, Lemon and Tapper for the slot.”
