Many Howard University students voiced concerns over the school's invitation to Diddy togive their 2014 commencement address and receive an honorary degree from the acclaimed college. TMZ reports that school officials have shrugged off the concerns of a majority of the student body and are moving forward with Diddy as the headliner for their graduation ceremonies. Students took issue with Diddy being an actual drop-out from the school and said he "wasn't a worthy role model." He briefly attended and dropped out of the school in the 80's in order to pursue his love of music.
A spokesperson from Howard told the gossip site:
Howard University continues the tradition of identifying leaders whose work has clearly contributed to the advancement of their fields and the world... We are honored to have Mr. Combs serve as our speaker.
Diddy, aka Sean Diddy Combs, was so excited about being honored alongside CNN's Wolf Blitzer and PepsiCo's CEO that he used his Instagram page to brag,
In the text of the image Diddy said he was "speechless" and said there were no words to describe how excited he was.
