Hillary Spends Big! On Polls.

Hill wants to get inside your head.

Hillary Clinton's campaign is working hard to get into the heads of voters, as the campaign financial statements prove. She is focused on polling and spending more money than her Republican rivals, reports NBC News:

Hillary Clinton spent $720,000 on polls last quarter – as much as the six top Republican candidates combined. About $477,000 of that went to the firm of Joel Benenson, a pollster for Mrs. Clinton, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. In the previous quarter, Clinton’s polling bill was even higher – at $1.9 million.

Simon, the Obama campaign veteran, said the tab must reflect planning for a national race.

“There’s no way to spend $700,000 in three states on polling,” he told NBC. “It’s got to be a larger set of polling, or something else there."

The top Republican in terms of bills for polling in the last quarter was Ted Cruz at $380,000 while Donald Trump spent nothing, asking aloud why he would pay for polls when networks give them away for free. Campaign strategists say the polling done by campaigns is about more than the horse-race questions asked by media polls, and instead focuses on issues -- which ones resonate and which ones tank. The data can also be used to target voters.

Even the campaign of outsider and socialist Bernie Sanders is spending more money than the top Republicans. Sanders went from spending nothing on polling last summer to dropping $500,000 in the last three months of the year.
