High School Cancels Dances Because of 'Culture of Grinding'

"sexually suggestive grinding"

A high school principal in Maine, is cancelling school dances because the students' "dancing" is getting too risque.

Gorham High School Principal Chris Record sent out a letter to parents describing the school dances as “plagued by the culture of grinding.”

“It is by no means the students’ fault, but the dancing they have witnessed on MTV/VHS/movies involves primarily only sexually suggestive grinding,” Record writes.

CBS News in Boston reports, "Record explains to parents exactly what grinding entails, and says it’s making dance chaperones uncomfortable. He also says younger students have complained about being pressured to participate in grinding."

Most students walked out of their Homecoming dance last year because "grinding" was prohibited.

Principal Record says that "Prom" will still take place because "it is a classier event."
