Can you vote with your face covered? In Canada you can.

A male reporter for TheRebel.Media showed up to vote, at an advance voting station, wearing a full niqab and was allowed to cast his ballot without ever revealing his face, despite being asked for photo identification.

Canadians vote in general elections on October 19 and the minority Muslim practice of covering a woman's face wearing a niqab has become a central issue. In the middle of the election campaign a court ruling said the government must allow Muslim women to wear the niqab, which covers the face with the exception of the eyes, while taking the oath of citizenship.

The court ruling is being appealed by the government led by Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper but that appeal is appealed by the two left-wing parties including the possible winner, Justin Trudeau and his Liberal party. The ruling has led to a debate over how far Canada should go to accommodate Muslim women who cover their faces.

Harper has promised that if re-elected he will change the law to force faces to be uncovered for citizenship ceremonies and for anyone working in government offices or seeking services in government offices.

This debate is hardly unique to Canada and has raged throughout Europe as Muslim immigration, and Saudi-backed Wahabism, has spread. Even in the United States, several states allow drivers licenses to be issued without a photo if for religious reasons the person objects to revealing his or her face.
