President Obama and Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have claimed the top-spots on Gallup's annual poll of the most admired man and woman in America for the sixth year in a row.

The political duo both enjoy commanding leads over their nearest rivals. 16% of participants chose the current president over only 4% for George W. Bush and Pope Francis, each tied for second place. For Clinton, the gap is smaller but still formidable with a total of 15% over 6% Oprah Winfrey.

While the win is nothing new for either politician - Barak Obama has lead the list for every year since his election in 2008 and Hillary Clinton a staggering 18 times - the trend lines may be of some interest to political junkies trying to read the tea leaves of 2016.

Hillary Clinton has been named Most Admired Woman a total of 18 times, more than any other woman in Gallup's history, including each of the last 12 years. Clinton first won the distinction in 1993, when she was first lady, and has continued to rank at or near the top of the list while serving in a variety of public roles including as U.S. senator and as secretary of state. The 15% naming her this year is down from 21% last year and is the lowest figure for her since 2006.

Also of interest to those who cannot wait for the presidential jockeying to begin in earnest is the inclusion of Sen. Ted Cruz in the top ten for the first time, albeit with a modest 1%.
