Fox Journo: Obama Admin Exhibits 'Authoritarian Impulse' Towards the Press

The most (non) transparent administration in history.

Chief Washington correspondent for Fox News James Rosen is blasting the Obama administration with accusations of having an "authoritarian impulse" towards his network in a way that far exceeds what Richard Nixon did to The Washington Post.

Rosen is responsible for recently blowing the whistle on the State Department for editing eight minutes of official video to keep the public unaware of secret talks with Iran over the nuclear weapons deal. The DoS at first said this was a "glitch" but has since admitted the editing was "deliberate." The agency announced this week that an investigation will be launched to determine who ordered the relevant portion of the video to be deleted.

Talking with Business Insider, Rosen said, "It's not often in the annals of a modern presidency where an administration is forced to admit publicly that it has sought to censor the record of its public briefings. To mess with that, to tamper with that archive is a very serious offense."

Rosen is calling to task an administration that has continually backtracked on its promise to be the most transparent in history, as President Obama has said on more than one occasion.

This is not the first time Rosen has rubbed this administration the wrong way. The Department of Justice investigated the reporter in 2013, accusing him of being a "co-conspirator" in an investigation of a possible leak of secret information on North Korea, according to BI. His e-mails were searched and his physical movements were tracked. He was also declared a "flight risk," though it is noted that he was allowed to accompany Secretary John Kerry on a multi-country trip.

Rosen said this was part and parcel for the Obama administration, which exhibits an "authoritarian impulse" when it comes to journalists in a way unlike previous administrations he has witnessed:

"There's no doubt that the Obama administration has maintained an animus towards Fox News and specifically towards me across the two terms.

"I can tell you as an objective fact that the conduct of the Obama administration, from the president on down towards Fox News, has far exceeded anything that Richard Nixon ever did to the Washington Post."
