Here’s yet another reminder why Blue Lives Matter.
Palm Springs, California officers Jose Vega and Lesley Zerebny were killed in the line of duty a little over two weeks ago when they responded to a domestic abuse call that led to their execution on the criminal suspect’s front porch.
Zerebny had just returned from maternity leave and the 35-year veteran Vega was just two months from retirement. It’s a sad story all around, especially with the war on cops that has been rebirthed through the Black Lives Matter movement.
But the actions from the good guys in blue at the Palm Springs Police Department outshine the darkness that surrounds them.
Since one of their own has fallen, the department has gathered around the families and offered their full support in these tough times. Just recently, Vega’s 8-year-old daughter, Vanessa, started her first day of school and stepping in for her father were a dozen officers who escorted the young girl to her classroom.
“All of your uncles came by to take you to school this morning,” one of the officers said, surprising Vanessa at her home. After a bunch of hugs, they piled into awaiting cruisers and went lights blazing into the elementary school parking lot. The especially touching moment was captured on video, and it might require a few tissues.:
It’s hard to imagine what’s going through little Vanessa’s mind, but one thing is certain, she sure loved her dad. Here are her remarks at his funeral:
