Presidential candidate Ted Cruz said that forcing women into the draft is dangerous political correctness and promised to stop it if he were to become President.

Cruz stands in contrast to the other presidential candidates, like Rubio, Bush and Christie, who all said at the presidential debate on Saturday night that women should have to sign up.

“As I was sitting there listening to that conversation, my reaction was, ‘Are you guys nuts?'” Cruz told a town hall audience Sunday, according to Politico:

“We have had enough with political correctness, especially in the military. Political correctness is dangerous, and the idea that we would draft our daughters to forcibly bring them into the military and put them in combat, I think is wrong. It is immoral and if I am president, we ain’t doing it.”

He went on to say he did not want his daughters in battle against "220-pound" psychopaths.

The subject of women enlisting in a draft surfaced in a congressional hearing last week, when two top military officials said they support women being drafted. Now that the military has opened up all combat position to women, include frontline fighting, the question of women signing up for Selective Service was raised at the Senate Committee on Armed Services.

Two veteran congressman, Reps. Duncan Hunter and Ryan Zinke, introduced a bill that would require women to enlist.
