Chris Matthews returned to Hardball on Tuesday after his Christmas, or as he would say, "Holiday" vacation. He started the show by immediately reiterating to his audience how he stands on income inequality, voter suppression, and Obamacare.
Matthews lamented that there would be no hope of America returning to democracy if Democrats stayed at home. Blaming "greed and irresponsibility" on Republicans, Matthews ranted that if only "the people" who turned out in 2010 vote, it will lead to black voters being suppressed and war.
Matthews then jumped to the race-baiting and exclaimed,
...It will mean Republican control of both the House of Representatives and the US Senate, and with that a slow grinding effort to kill not just the president's healthcare plan but his presidency itself and the legacy it promised. It will be a double-downing of efforts to suppress the votes of those who voted for him in historic numbers. A return to something like Jim Crow days, revving up all the anti-black gimmickry of that time! Literacy tests and poll taxes and all the rest! The goal will be to erase, not just Obama from the history books but any evidence that someone of his background should ever think of being president! It'll mean victory for the haters ,and believe me it could well mean another war like the two we got from W! Wars that achieve nothing except the deaths of Americans and the growing hatred of those we claim to be out there saving!
He continued that "state after state" run by GOP politicians have already worked to keep blacks, women, old people, and other minorities from voting and warned that if Republicans win again, more suppression will happen. Matthews closed his monologue declaring that he will remain committed to "the good people" who watch his show and will start 2014 off intent on winning the battle to extend unemployment benefits.
