The carnage continues piling up in the Rahm Emanuel-controlled City of Chicago.
Shooting victims in the Windy City over the first two months of 2017 are already outpacing the devastating numbers from last year. After charting its deadliest day of the year last week with seven dead and five in just two hours, another 14 were shot over the weekend. Four people died.
The Chicago Tribune reported that by Monday morning, 103 homicides had occurred barely beating last years total which was 101. However, so far in 2017, 513 people have been shot compared to 466 from this same time last year. The report goes on to note that violence this year was slightly behind last year until last week's deadliest day.
The city’s 100th and 101st homicides were recorded over the weekend at a house party where 38-year-old Samuel Head was shot in the chest and 20-year-old Lance Jefferson was hit in the face and torso. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Also over the weekend, two teenagers, 15 years old, were shot in separate incidents. A boy was hit several times and is in serious condition and a girl is recovering from a gunshot wound to the left buttock.
