Transgender traitor Chelsea (formerly Bradley) Manning has announced that he/she/xe will be running for a U.S. Democrat Senate seat in Maryland this year, and has kicked off the bid with the creepiest campaign ad you'll ever see -- at least until the next ad from the Manning campaign. We feel sure it's only going to go downhill from here.
It begins with Manning, outfitted in Antifa black, narrating recent footage of mob violence, riot police, Charlottesville neo-Nazis, and predictably, the border wall. The narration grows more threatening over an ominous musical undercurrent as the video depicts Manning walking and standing amid a variety of nondescript backdrops like a graffitied stairwell, a grim rooftop under an overcast sky, and a blighted boulevard median.
Manning then closes with a tight smile and his/her/xir trademark social media tagline, "#WeGotThis."
The message is clearly designed to set Manning radically apart from the political elites that "we don't need" anymore, from whom Manning intends to "take the reins of power."
Manning, now 30, was a U.S. Army soldier convicted by court-martial in July 2013 for violations of the Espionage Act after disclosing nearly 750,000 classified and unclassified-but-sensitive military and diplomatic documents to WikiLeaks. In 2017, then-President Barack Obama commuted Manning's 35-year sentence after about seven years in military prison.
President Trump has called Manning an "ungrateful traitor" who "should never have been released." It's hard to imagine that a convicted traitor could be considered a candidate for the Senate, but there is literally no criminality or radicalism that would prevent one from seeking and attaining a leadership position in the Democratic Party.
We live in trying times.
Times of fear— of suppression— of hate.
We don’t need more—or better leaders.
We need someone willing to fight. We need to stop asking them to give us our rights.
They won’t support us. They won’t compromise.
We need to stop expecting that our systems will somehow fix themselves.
We need to actually take the reins of power from them.
We need to challenge them at every level. We need to fix this. We don’t need them anymore. We can do better.
You’re damn right #WeGotThis
