Chelsea Clinton is trying to do what her mother couldn’t, win. And like her mother, she’s persistent in her attempts to stay relevant. That’s why she figures she ought to write a children’s book about how “persistence is power.”

And what a perfect time, too, with the popularity of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s comments about Hillary pal Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s filibuster against Jeff Sessions. He said, “She was warned. She was given an explanation. Nevertheless, she persisted.”

Feminists everywhere made that their rallying cry. Many took it a step further and had the phrase tattooed in various corners of their bodies.

Clinton, too, is appropriating the phrase for he book, calling it, “She Persisted,” which tells the story of 13 “women who overcame immense opposition to achieve their goals.” They are: Harriet Tubman, Helen Keller, Nellie Bly, Maria Tallchief, Claudette Colvin, Clara Lemlich, Ruby Bridges, Margaret Chase Smith, Sally Ride, Florence Griffith Joyner, Oprah Winfrey, Sonia Sotomayor, and of course, her mother, Hillary.

“I wrote this book for everyone who’s ever wanted to speak up but has been told to quiet down, for everyone who’s ever been made to feel less than,” a statement from Chelsea Clinton read. “The 13 women in ‘She Persisted’ all overcame adversity to help shape our country — sometimes through speaking out, sometimes by staying seated, sometimes by captivating an audience. With this book, I want to send a message to young readers around the country — and the world — that persistence is power.”

Okay, sure, but persistence doesn’t always make you a winner. Just ask President Trump.
