The omission of the local perspective seems noteworthy given the sharply critical tone it has taken toward Secretary of State John Kerry, who has been an ardent supporter of the cease-fire effort, with one newspaper headline saying Kerry and President Obama were "playing with fire."

NBC's Today show offered a more well-rounded report, with correspondent Kate Snow including the criticism in her report:

Kerry's been soundly criticized in the Israeli media for the way he pushed for a cease-fire. A columnist for the liberal newspaper Haaretz said senior government officials in Jerusalem described Kerry's cease-fire proposal as a strategic terrorist attack....One paper called Kerry a "nudnik."
