CA's Lieutenant Governor Takes on Jerry Brown: I Would Kill Bullet Train

Gavin Newsom says he would redirect bullet train funds

In an exclusive interview on radio station AM 770 KTTH with Truth Revolt Editor-In-Chief Ben Shapiro, California Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom said he would take the money allocated for California's bullet train and redirect it to more pressing needs.

On the show to promote his new book, Newsom said he isn't the only Democrat to feel this way, though he may be one of the few willing to admit it:

I would take the dollars and redirect it to more pressing infrastructure needs, and I'm not the only Democrat that feels this way. I gotta tell you, I am one of the few to say it publicly, most are just saying it privately.

Newsom has changed his position on the issue substantially. In 2011, he said he was "extraordinarily excited" about the bullet train, and added, "I personally have been supportive of the high-speed rail project since my time as mayor of the city and county of San Francisco." Last year, however, he said that Californians should be "sober" about the project. This marks his first public break with the project in its entirety.
