To shouts of "Fascism, Nazis!" a group of college Republicans at Fordham University were told to get out of a coffee shop because their "Make America Great Again" hats were a violation of the safe space policy at the school.
Video of the event, obtained and posted by Campus Reform, shows young men wearing the hats being polite while trying to study in the coffee shop run by an on-campus club. A woman, described as the president of the club is seen and heard in the video yelling for the College Republicans to leave.
“I don’t want people like you supporting this club… no one here wants people like you supporting our club,” the president retorted. “I am giving you five minutes.”
The Catholic university is one of the most expensive colleges in America, tuition, room and board costs more than $65,000 per year - a fee that apparently doesn't cover allowing conservative students to drink coffee at a student club cafe. Campus Reform reports that the president of the club claimed that the mere presence of these students was a threat.
“You are threatening the integrity of our club. This is a community standard—you are wearing hats that completely violate safe space policy,” she said. “You have to take it off or you have to go.”
One of the students then asked the president to explain what she thinks the MAGA hat stands for, to which she replied, shouting: “Fascism, Nazis! You have three minutes.”
Aaron Spring, one of the students involved in the incident appeared on Fox News to describe how the Fordham coffee shop is a safe space for everyone except Trump supporters.
