BUMMER: Amy Schumer Will Not Grace the Silver Screen As 'Barbie'

We're all very saddened!

The month of March has not been the kindest to purported comedienne Amy Schumer, who, along with the sinking of her Netflix special, has now exited Sony's live-action adaptation of Barbie due to "scheduling conflicts."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Trainwreck that is Amy Schumer, the queen of smelly vagina jokes, will not be given the opportunity to indoctrinate our daughters in a movie about the most iconic children's toy this side of Transformers. Her majestic pen will also not be involved in the writing of the screenplay.

“Sadly, I’m no longer able to commit to Barbie due to scheduling conflicts,” Schumer said in a statement. “The film has so much promise, and Sony and Mattel have been great partners. I’m bummed, but look forward to seeing Barbie on the big screen.”

Schumer first entered the Barbie scene back in December when Sony chief Tom Rothman pitched the idea to her. Sony has since announced they respect her decision.

“We respect and support Amy’s decision,” a Sony spokesperson said in a statement. “We look forward to bringing Barbie to the world and sharing updates on casting and filmmakers soon.”

IMDB currently shows Juno writer Diablo Cody as being attached to the project. Sony hopes to release the film on June 29, 2018. No director has been attached, and no word on the casting of Barbie herself. Lena Dunham, perhaps? Ashley Judd? Joy Behar? The possibilities are exciting.
