Bloomberg Media Considers Washington A "Backwater"

Moving political television programming to New York

A Politico article on Bloomberg's decision to move its political television programming out of the nation's capital reveals a disdain for the sophistication of the community running the country.

In advance of its October launch of a new political website and television show, Bloomberg has canceled its Political Capital show, which was hosted by journalist Al Hunt, and has laid off the show's DC-based production staff.

The new show, to be hosted by authors Mark Halperin and John Heilemann, will be based out of New York. That move, according to the article, isn't an accident:

“The whole thing will be run out of New York,” one Bloomberg insider said. “They consider Washington a backwater.”
