Black Olympian Won’t Carry Flag for U.S. Team, Blames Racist Coin Toss

Who knew?

The Pyeong Chang Olympics is right around the corner and already there’s a controversy, as CNN reported on Thursday.

This year, decorated speed skater and Olympics qualifier Shani Davis was tied with world champion luger Erin Hamlin among the sport federations voting for which of the two would carry the flag for the United States team during the opening ceremonies. A coin toss decided that Hamlin was the lucky winner.

That means for the first time since 2006, a woman will have the honor of leading her country into the games, and the sixth woman to do it in 23 games. A high honor to be sure.

But not to Davis, who quickly whipped out the race card and called the coin toss “dishonorably” done:

That’s a tough one for leftists when identity politics are at play. It's a great day for feminism, but a bad one for Black History Month.
