With Charlie Rose's departure from CBS This Morning amidst allegations of sexual impropriety in November, a seat has been left open at the show. CBS announced on Tuesday that the seat has been filled -- by journalist John Dickerson. If you're expecting impartiality, which I doubt you are, you can toss that idea out the window.
Let's get to know him better. In 2014, Dickerson wrote a piece for The Atlantic called "Go For the Throat!" which featured such quotes as:
"Obama must declare war on the Republican Party."
"(Obama) can only cement his legacy if he destroys the GOP. If he wants to transform American politics, he must go for the throat."
"Obama’s only remaining option is to pulverize. Whether he succeeds in passing legislation or not, given his ambitions, his goal should be to delegitimize his opponents."
When he interviewed then-primary candidate Trump in 2016, Trump felt that Dickerson was fair. Not so much after he was elected:
Thank you to @jdickerson and @FaceTheNation for a very fair and professional interview this morning. No wonder you are #1 in the ratings!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 6, 2016
After all, Trump walked away from a CBS interview with Dickerson in 2017.
Not to worry: we're sure it will be fair and balanced. After all, the other two hosts are Gayle King and Norah O'Donnell.
Oh, dear.
