Democrat doomsdayers lay it on thick

For 15 hours Monday, Senate Democrats stood on the Senate floor in a comfortable, climate controlled building, burning lights and speaking into live audio and video equipment all night to combat pollution and offer cures for climate change.

With charts, statistics and dire warnings about hotter climates, heavier rains, flooding, bigger and hotter forest fires and disappearing coastlines, these Senate Democrat doomsdayers bleated some doozies, but here are a few of the best:

'It’s time to stop acting like those who ignore this crisis – the oil baron Koch brothers and their allies in Congress – have a valid point of view.' — Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nv)

'Yes, there is money, big money behind the polluters and yes, those polluters are raging against us.' — Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Ca)

'It’s very clear that deniers are standing with three percent of the scientists, while we Democrats, who are here tonight calling for action, are standing with 97 percent of the scientists.' — Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Ca)

'If we can hold warming to less than 2 degrees Celsius, we can accommodate for [climate change].' — Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Ca)

'If we fail to act, our planet will be destroyed.' — Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Ct)

Top prize goes to Senator Ed Markey from Massachusetts for this gem:

'The planet is running a fever but there are no emergency rooms for planets.' — Sen. Edward Markey (D-Ma)
