Since losing the nomination for the Democratic Party during the 2016 election, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders has been busy penning a progressive manifesto for teens to join arms with the resistance.
Bernie Sanders Guide to Political Revolution will be available in late August and gives young people resources to “fight against the imbalances in the nation’s status quo, and shows [them] how to make a difference to effect the changes America―and the world―need to create a better tomorrow.”
As nice as that sounds, Sanders is really hoping the book will groom the next generation of social justice revolutionaries to carry on his progressive ideals. Teen Vogue is already pushing it to readers:
Sanders’ book is a one-stop shop for teenagers hoping to learn more about progressive causes and how to mobilize around key issues they care about. The book features helpful infographics and illustrations in the hopes of breaking down complex issues like income inequality, climate change, healthcare, law enforcement reform, prison system reform and student loan debt so that students know what they’re up against and how best to tackle these problems.
Sanders told Teen Vogue, “Young people are the future of our country. As citizens of the United States, they have a responsibility to participate in our democracy and to help create a government which works for all, rather than just the few. This book will expose them to an unusual political campaign, the excitement of politics and what being a progressive is all about.”
However, don’t expect Sanders’ socialist tendencies to spill over into the sale of this book. No, he isn’t giving them away, but the list price is only $16.99. Anyone with a livable wage can afford that.
