TruthRevolt eviscerates Hollywood liberal hypocrisy and anti-conservative bigotry so often that it's easy to forget Hollywood isn't monolithically leftist. Tinseltown certainly leans left, and their loudest political voices are almost entirely leftist, but every now and then we at TruthRevolt like to give credit where credit is due and highlight a celebrity who may not be a hardcore conservative but who nonetheless doesn't march to the conformist beat.
In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly to promote his contemporary Western Hell or High Water, which releases today on DVD and Blu-ray, Oscar-winning actor Jeff Bridges said he believes the Western action film “shines a light” on why Donald Trump walked away from the recent presidential election a victor over Hillary Clinton, and on why so many Americans are “disappointed” in the government.
“They have little faith in it, and we’ll see. I hope we don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater here,” Bridges warned. “But I’m rooting for the guy, Mr. Trump.”
That wasn't the case as recently as this June, when Bridges, 66, told the Daily Beast that he did not “dig” Trump and was supporting Hillary. “I don’t go the Trump way,” he said at the time.
But now Bridges finds Trump "appealing" in an unexpected way and is rooting for the President-Elect:
“One of the things that’s most appealing about him is his unpredictability. A less kind word might be his hypocrisy, but unpredictability and hypocrisy are things that each of us human being share. It’s something we all struggle with and work with. I was pleased to hear his acceptance speech. Taken out of context, that would be wonderful. Talking about unpredictability, who would have thought that he would be praising Hillary Clinton and thanking her for her wonderful work after trashing her and inviting all of the people who didn’t vote for him, that he’d be looking for guidance from these people, all of these wonderful things? I’m rooting for the guy, but we’ll see how it all goes. You just don’t know how it will all work out.”
Bridges added that he is “fascinated” by Trump’s potential Cabinet and administration appointments and is adopting a wait-and-see attitude about it all.
“It’s kind of like that Zen story,” he said, referring to the old tale of a Zen master whose even-keeled response to both good fortune and bad was "We'll see." How does Bridges think everything will turn out? “We’ll see," he said.
