The following is a TruthRevolt exclusive interview with Nick Adams, author of the new book American Boomerang: How the World’s Greatest “Turnaround” Nation Will Do It Again.
TR: Do you think America is savable?
Adams: America has dug itself into a deep hole but it is eminently savable.
Decline is a choice, not a condition. The solutions are already with Americans. It is in their founding and their values.
As I outline in my book, for America to boomerang, it needs to end the waste, pay back the debt, limit the government, axe political correctness, protect the borders, preserve Judeo-Christian traditions, end the culture of entitlement, cut taxes, exercise loyalty to the Constitution and keep the peace through unquestioned military advantage. That's it. If you do all of that, you will forge a new generation of Americans that guarantees the American Dream for another 200 years at least. And that's the best thing that can happen- not just for America, but for the world.
TR: Does America's internal threat represent a greater threat than historic external threats?
Adams: The words of Abraham Lincoln ring true: "America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." An external threat is often able to unite a people for a common cause. An internal threat divides and is infinitely more difficult to overcome. A lack of unified values threatens the cohesion of a society. And this is precisely what afflicts America at this moment. If you rob Peter to pay Paul, Paul is always going to vote for you. So, traditional Americans seeking the real America must win the hearts and minds of Americans again. They must win the argument. They must make the very powerful moral case against the welfare state. Just look at Europe to see how internal threats have destroyed them. From the loss of identity to the lack of will to defend democracy to a lack of will to reproduce to no relgious or national identity, each of these can be traced back to internal failings, not external threats. This is why American-loving people everywhere right now are terrified by American decline.
TR: If we are savable, why haven't we saved ourselves?
Adams: America hasn't saved itself because there is no consensus on what it means to be an American. The consensus that existed from founding, and became re-inforced following the conclusion of the Second World War and the Soviet threat has been shattered. There now exists a substantial portion of the American population that wants to see America pursue a European future. Academia is rife with secularism and anti-religious sentiment. No one is teaching this generation of Americans what constitutes the American value system. And America is sacrificing its nation and people on the altar of multiculturalism and the lie of the utopian virus. There is a drift toward big government and a highly regulated society. In America, the safety net has become a hammock. Political correctness has killed voices and squashed opinions. The Left (who have all the influence in the mainstream media, schools, universities and popular culture) are informing Americans that they regard patriotism as some form of cultural leprosy, and a belief in American exceptionalism as a disability. Patriotic and traditional Americans must rise up, and re-engage in the culture war, and stop America becoming a nation of bullies, forcing conformity while calling it tolerance, and delivering America at the feet of the very people Americans expended such treasure to defeat.
TR: Is there any other hope outside the United States for freedom?
Adams: A definitive "no". America is the last best hope for man, as both Lincoln, and later Reagan repeated. America was the world’s first free country, the nation that has inspired many to be free, that has protected the freedom of others, and that has spread more freedom than any other. America is the least oppressive country on earth. It has given the greatest number of people the greatest potential in the world. The world should adopt American values; the best and only answer to making the world a better place is the American value system. Even America's English-speaking cousins have not lived up to expectations. The United Nations? A more morally failed and bereft place could not be conceived. Let's not even start. The best hope for the world is that American exceptionalism be maximized on the world stage.
TR: What happens if the American people decide to retreat from the world?
Adams: You keep the peace by keeping a presence. It occasions no surprise that right as America is retreating and dismantling its military, China, Russia and ISIS are advancing. Nor should it be a revelation that countries such as Israel, South Korea and Taiwan are becoming nervous. Weakness is provocative, and it invites aggression. When America retreats, a void opens, and that void is invariably filled by far less desirable actors in the world theater. A world that is not led is one where the bullies take charge. A more powerful America is not a more harmful world- it's the opposite. It's a safer world. Whenever America extends an olive branch, its enemies carve it into a knife to use it against them. That's not peace through strength; that's absurdity through weakness.
If America were to retreat entirely, it would be a world of unconscionable darkness. As detailed in The American Boomerang, radical Islam and socialism, the cancers of the world, would metastasize, and terror, tyranny and torture would reign. Individual liberty would be a footnote in history. There would likely be a nuclear war in the Middle Easte, waged by Iran at Israel, and Israel might be destroyed. Taiwan would be captured by China. Indonesia might make a move on Australia. Russia would attempt to rebuild the Soviet Empire. North Korea would invade South Korea. Tyrants in Africa would be emboldened. Terrorists would have nothing holding them back. America doesn't have attend every argument it is invited to, but the best way to ensure Americans never have to go to any war is by making sure the American military can win any war. America needs to have an unquestioned advantage over anybody else when it comes to national security.
