On Thursday, President Obama will meet the NFL Champion New England Patriots at the White House, but star quarterback Tom Brady will not be among them, citing a family commitment.

Brady did visit the White House in 2002, 2004 and 2005, after the Patriots had won the Super Bowl. Before this year’s Super Bowl, White House Press Secretary mocked Brady’s performance when Brady discussed “DeflateGate” at a press conference, sniping, "For years it's been clear that there is no risk that I was going to take Tom Brady's job as quarterback of the New England Patriots. But I can tell you, as of today, it's pretty clear that there's no risk of him taking my job either." Earnest’s rip was part of his response when asked how Barack Obama saw the issue of the deflated balls used in the Patriots’ defeat of the Indianapolis Colts.
