White House Pushing Organized Labor

"A voice in the boardroom starts with a voice in the break room."

On this Labor Day, the White House and the Department of Labor announced a new initiative that brings labor unions, organizers, and advocates together to ensure middle-class Americans will get their share of the broader economic pie.

A White House Summit on Worker Voice has been scheduled for October 7, 2015, to do just that. They are asking for nominations of leaders in communities across America to attend the limited-seating event to share how they are "making their workplaces more fair, productive and prosperous."

All of this piggybacks President Obama's recent executive order that requires federal contractors to offer employees up to seven days of paid sick leave per year.
