At TruthRevolt we bring you so many examples of progressive lunacy weekly, even daily, that it's hard to select just one as standing head and shoulders above the rest. But students at the University of Cape Town in South Africa have handed us a clear winner for last week. It concerns their mission to scrap Western science as too Eurocentric and to embrace witchcraft in its place.

"The whole thing should scratched off, especially in Africa," said one of the students who are known as "fallists." As reported by Reason.com, they have created a hashtag (no social justice movement is complete without a social media hashtag) is #ScienceMustFall. You can watch the fallists make their case during a meeting here.

One student threw out this question for the crowd:

"I have a question for all the science people. There is a place in KZN [KwaZulu-Natal, a South African province] called Umhlab'uyalingana. They believe that through the magic -- 'you call it black magic,' they call it 'witchcraft' -- you are able to send lightning to strike someone. Can you explain that scientifically? Because it's something that happens."

To their credit, many of the students gathered burst out laughing at the absurdity of this. But it is concerning -- mind-boggling, actually -- that there is actually an element of the student body so obsessed with what they believe to be the oppressive legacy of colonialism that they dismiss western science as a racist construct, and prefer a return to their roots in witchcraft.

"Decolonizing the science would mean doing away with it entirely and starting all over again to deal with how we respond to the environment and how we understand it," she insisted.
