WATCH: Pence Announcement in Full

Pence accepts nom and praises Trump.

Donald Trump called Mike Pence his partner in fixing America's rigged system as he made the official announcement Saturday morning. Trump hailed the leadership Pence has shown on jobs and the economy, noting that Pence's state Indiana has balanced its budget and maintains a $2 billion reserve fund.

Trump also hailed Pence for understanding how governments can help business create jobs, noting that under his administration Indiana's unemployment rate fell from 8.4% to less than 5% and the labor force has increased by more than 180,000 jobs.

"When I see what happened to Indiana under Mike's work," Trump said, "that to me is probably the single most important point."

Trump said that the turnaround that Indiana has gone through is what is needed for America.

"I thank Donald Trump," Pence said, "and I accept your invitation to run and serve as vice-president of the United States of America."

"Having had the privilege to spend time with this man and his family out of the limelight, I know what all of America will soon know even better. These are good people. Donald Trump is a good man and he will make a great president," Pence said.

Pence told the crowd that Trump understands the hopes and dreams of the American people better than any leader since Ronald Reagan.

In explaining why he is accepting the offer to run Pence said he wanted to bring the same turnaround to the rest of the country that has come to Indiana, and because, "Hillary Clinton must never become president."

Trump had planned to make the announcement Friday morning but delayed due to the terror attack in France the night before. Speaking of which, the Republican nominee said that to fight Islamic terrorism around the world America needs new leadership, new thinking, and strength.
