Finch: Kirsten Powers’ Credibility Comes Crashing Down

She should be ashamed.

What a disgusting display was put on by Kirsten Powers yesterday morning on Fox News Sunday. Discussing the security situation during the GOP Cleveland convention this week and the fears of protests that could well turn violent, she was quick to mention the "white supremacist" organizations that may clash in the streets with other seemingly vague, nameless protest groups. [Powers' portion of the video above begins at 5:28]

She followed that up by mentioning that Trump has been very slow in his denunciation of these "supremacist" organizations or has been completely silent. Then, almost as an aside, she mentioned that they make up part of Trump's support. What a load of crap. What "white supremacist" organizations? Where are they? Are they marching in the streets? Are they shouting slogans saying that black cops need to be fried, ambushed and executed? Are they being invited to Speaker Paul Ryan's office for "discussions"? Were they praised and applauded at the Republican debates last year?

No, of course not. The reason for that is that they are a figment, a straw man that doesn't exist. The white supremacist organizations that actually exist are a lunatic fringe that is far out of any "mainstream." They are justly derided and excoriated by everyone -- Trump and all other Republicans included.

But Black Lives Matter is very real. Their racial, incendiary language is very real and has been a catalyst in the war against the police that has now resulted in these horrifying killing sprees in Dallas and Baton Rouge. Anyone who has praised and condoned the BLM movement has blood on their hands. Yet no one, certainly not the media (nor even any Republican leaders that I know of), has asked President Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Democratic leaders to denounce this violent terrorist organization. Why not?

What is galling about this is that Kirsten Powers knows better. She is one of the few honest liberals, or so we thought, who have taken strong stances on issues like the persecution of Christians and the silencing of free speech. Which makes this even more insidious: because she knows better, that means she is knowingly fabricating a story, giving cover for Hillary, and once again joining a chorus that is stoking racial violence in America.

She should be ashamed.
