Tucker Carlson Accuses Noah Oppenheim of Fraud in Weinstein Story

"News executives…are not allowed to participate in cover-ups."

On Thursday’s edition of Tucker Carlson Tonight, the Fox News host branded NBC a politically corrupt liar over stated reasons for keeping the lid on leftist Harvey Weinstein’s sexual scandal earlier this week.  Tucker grilled the network, asking:

“Why did a purported news organization kill a blockbuster news story?  Presumably we will find out at some point. This is a scandal and the truth has a way of emerging from those in the end. One possible explanation is Noah Oppenheim. In addition to being the head of NBC News, he is a screenwriter with deep ties to the movie business and the Democratic Party establishment. Could it be that Oppenheim had a business relationship with the company?”

Ronan Farrow’s explosive story was originally set to air on the Peacock in February, just in time for the Academy Awards. However, the network never aired the story, and Farrow—who was contracted with NBC at the time—left during the summer when that arrangement expired.

A number of sources also allege that Farrow had even arranged for a taped interview with actress Rose McGowan, whom The New York Times revealed was one of the many recipients of settlements from Weinstein.

Oppenheim claims NBC "encouraged" Farrow to run the story, but that the reporter didn't have enough to go to air.

On Tuesday, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow probed Farrow: "NBC says that the story wasn't publishable, that it wasn't ready to go at the time that you brought it to them."

Farrow responded:

"I walked into the door at The New Yorker with an explosively reportable piece that should have been published earlier. And immediately, obviously, The New Yorker recognized that. And it is not accurate to say that it was not reportable. In fact, there were multiple determinations that it was reportable at NBC.”

So the question remains, why did NBC kill the story? Was it to protect a fellow member of the tribe? Or business interests with a fellow Democrat? Assistance to a heavy donor to left-wing organizations, including the Democratic Party?

“It is not a far-fetched possibility,” Carlson stated:

“Oppenheim ought to resign immediately, and if he doesn’t, he ought to be fired immediately by NBC’s parent company, Comcast. News executives are not allowed to tell lies. They are not allowed to participate in coverups. They ought to answer straightforward question straightforwardly. When they don’t, you know they are corrupt, and that is exactly what NBC News is.”
