That adorable moment in Dickens's A Christmas Carol when Tiny Tim says "God bless us everyone" is just a little too triggering for one Pennsylvania elementary school administration, which has now canceled its performance following parental complaints, killing a 40-year tradition.​

Centerville Elementary School students perform 'A Christmas Carol' each year. This year, though, the students will not bring the Charles Dickens classic to the stage.

It began when the school received complaints about the line 'God bless us, everyone.'

Parents have expressed shock over the play's cancelation, a 40-year tradition the community has always supported. 

"I was very surprised because it’s been going on for decades and it’s a tradition at the school that everybody looks forward to," said resident Jane Burkhart.

According to Hempfield School District leaders, the parental complaints were in fact the reason for the cancelation, only they say Tiny Tim's line wasn't the reason, but because it took 20 hours of classroom education away from students. They did not specify how the play went on for 40 years if that were the case. 

"It’s not a part of the written curriculum of fifth grade, but students and teachers were required to participate in it and we can’t allow that to continue," said Shannon Zimmerman, a district spokeswoman.

District leaders have encouraged parents to organize a play of their own. 

Last week, an elementary school in Texas removed a Charlie Brown Christmas display for having a biblical Christmas message. 

Forget all that though. It's Christmas! And in the spirit of Tiny Tim, "God bless us everyone!"
