The rise of the machines has come to deliver yet another death blow to the minimum wage argument as robots have begun delivering takeout food in Washington D.C.

"US company Postmates has begun the rollout of the first fully automated robotic food delivery service in Washington, D.C. with plans to launch it across Europe in the future," reports Breitbart. "The delivery robots, which are manufactured by Estonian company Starship Technologies, are designed to bring food directly from restaurants to customers doors."

The robots deliver meals directly to the customer's door using built-in sensors and cameras to navigate across the city. Customers make the order via an Uber-style app.

Postmates represents just one of many fast food outlets that have moved towards this automated system, including Chipotle, which struck a partnership with Alphabet to deliver burritos via drone for students at Virginia Tech in 2016.

“It’s the first time that we’re actually out there delivering stuff to people who want that stuff,” said the head of Alphabet’s Project Wing, Dave Vos.

CEO and Managing Director Don Meij of Dominos Pizza, which delivered pizza via drone in New Zealand, said, “We invested in this partnership, and technology, because we believe drone delivery will be an essential component of our pizza deliveries.”
