Rand Paul is set to make the announcement that is seeking the Republican nomination official on Tuesday but began a soft launch with a YouTube video released late Easter Sunday.
Describing himself as a different kind of Republican leader, Paul's ad mixes clips of him delivering a speech at CPAC with news coverage of his time in the Senate. Paul's selection of clips endorsing him are definitely different as he mixes old Republican hands like Newt Gingrich and Michael Steele with CNN's Candy Crowley, MSNBC's Chris Matthews and even Jon Stewart from The Daily Show.
"The senator from Kentucky might just be the candidate who ends up winning this thing," Matthews intones in a brief clip.
Paul kicks off his presidential bid Tuesday, April 7 with an event in Louisville, Kentucky. He then heads out on a tour that will include stops in New Hampshire South Carolina, Iowa and Nevada.
