Rand Paul has made clear that he does not intend to lead a docile campaign. He's already launched his first major ad campaign, which targets Hillary Clinton, "the worst of the Washington Machine."
The first half of the video focuses on Hillary, whom it calls "a path to the past" and a politician whose "arrogance of power" and "corruption" have had "tragic consequences" for the country.
What path will America take? Will it be a path to the past? A road to yesterday? To a place we’ve been to before?
Hillary Clinton represents the worst of the Washington Machine, the arrogance of power, corruption, and cover-up, conflicts of interest and failed leadership with tragic consequences. The Washington Machine is destroying the American Dream.
The ad is posted on Paul’s “Liberty, Not Hillary” campaign page, which includes a quote from Paul saying Hillary's "attacks on liberty and the constitution make her unfit to serve as President of the United States.” Paul is being equally combative in interviews and on the road regarding the Republicans’ "inevitable" opponent, recently slamming her on CNN for her and Bill’s sense that “they are above the law.”
Meanwhile, other Republicans are joining in with equally aggressive approaches to Hillary. In an interview this weekend, Marco Rubio, who is expected to announce his candidacy Monday, called Hillary an “architect of foreign policy failure," like Rand, painting her as a step backward for the country. If nothing else, the 2016 campaigns won't be without their fireworks.
