An ISIS attack on Pope Francis' life was thwarted Tuesday after Italian authorities received a tip from the FBI that four people in Italy and Kosovo were suspected of planning his assassination.

Claiming on social media that Francis would "the last Pope," the ring of four were operatives in a terrorist cell specifically intended to kill, who "propagated the ideology of jihad through social networks," according to police. All four people arrested came from Kosovo.  

ISIS has made continual threats against Pope Francis and the Vatican since having executed 30 Coptic Christians on a Libyan beach earlier this year, putting Vatican security on high-alert. The Italian government has also been conducting raids and increasing police presence in Rome in response to the ISIS attacks in Paris that took 130 lives this last month.  

ISIS also specifically promised to attack Rome in a video released just after last month's attack in Paris, which had the Islamic terror group saying,

"By Allah, if we brought down France in its homeland, in Paris, then we swear, by the command of Allah, we will attack America in its heartland, in Washington, Allah permitting, and we will invade Rome, Allah permitting."
