Poll: Americans Want Gorsuch Confirmed

"54 Percent"

Sen. Chuck Schumer has promised to filibuster Judge Neil Gorsuch's nomination to the Supreme Court. The polls show that would be a very unwise decision.

According to an NBC News/SurveyMonkey poll, a majority of Americans at 54 percent want Gorsuch to have his vote. Only 37 percent want a filibuster.

Naturally, 31 percent of Democrats want Gorsuch blocked versus 84 percent of Republicans. Conversely, 58 percent of Independents want his confirmation.

What about other polls? Daily Wire has more:

Additionally, a Politico/Morning Consult poll found that 44 percent of American voters want Gorsuch confirmed, while only 23 percent think he shouldn't be. Another 23 percent said they didn't know if they wanted Gorsuch confirmed or not.

Those results were also split among partisan lines, as 69 percent of Republicans supported Gorsuch's confirmation, nine percent didn't, and 22 percent didn't know. Thirty-nine percent of Independents supported Gorsuch's confirmation, 20 percent did not, and 41 percent didn't know; among Democrats those numbers were 25 percent, 39 percent and 35 percent respectively.

According to Ed Morrissey of Hot Air, the high quantity of folks who selected an "undecided" or "no" answer in the NBC Poll creates confusion as to how much enthusiasm Gorsuch has going for him, but nevertheless, Americans want him to get a vote, which means confirmation.

The move to block Gorsuch remains popular with the Democrat party base, however.
