Reuters is reporting that the FBI has begun an investigation into an anonymous tip that pairs the Muslim man who shot and wounded a Philadelphia police officer last week with a lager terror cell.

On Thursday, a robed gunman, 30-year-old Edward Archer (known also by his Muslim name Abdul Shaheed), ambushed 33-year-old officer Jesse Hartnett at an intersection. Archer fired 11 rounds as he approached the police cruiser, hitting Hartnett three times in the arm, wounding him at point-blank range. The officer was able to exit his vehicle and fire a round that struck the suspect before being arrested.

On Sunday, police were tipped with a warning that Archer is not acting alone, nor is he the most radical among the group. From NBC10:

According to a police report obtained by NBC10, an anonymous [female] tipster told officers that, "the threat to police is not over" and that the man who shot Officer Jesse Hartnett is "part of a group that consists of three others," adding that the alleged shooter "is not the most radical of the four." The report obtained Sunday goes on to say the tipster told police to "be careful.”

The Reuters report notes that the local imam of the West Philadelphia mosque, Asim Abdur Rashid, has worshipped with Archer for the last five years. Rashid described the suspect as "intelligent" and "a regular dude." Archer was indeed regular, visiting the mosque for morning and evening prayers, as well as midday Friday prayers.

A Muslim friend of Archer's noticed that he had changed after trips to Saudi Arabia and Egypt in 2011 and 2012 respectively. 

“He became more drastic. More combative,” his friend said. “He was kind but I noticed that change.”

But remember, just after the shooting, which Archer confessed to "in the name of Islam," Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney assured citizens that the incident had nothing to do with "being a Muslim or the Islamic faith."
