There is rumbling within the Democratic Party that it may be time for House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to go since the party can’t seem to win elections. However, the senior congresswoman feels totally confident in her abilities to effectively lead the party.

During her daily press briefing, a reporter pushed back against Pelosi blowing off those within her own party who feel her time is up and a newer generation needs to take over. Pelosi was more than happy to tout her resume:

“So, you want me to sing my praises? Is that what you’re saying? Well, I'm a master legislator. I am a strategic, politically astute leader. My leadership is recognized by many around the country, and that is why I'm able to attract the support that I do, which is essential to our election, which is sad to say.”

“Usually, they go after the most effective leaders, because they want to take us — diminish the opportunity that we have,” she added.

As Pelosi comes up on 30 years in the biz, she believes she is “paving the way” for the next generation of Democrats. She was more testy when she told the room that she will decide when her time is up, not anyone else.

“I think I’m worth the trouble, quite frankly,” Pelosi said. “I love the fray. You know, I’m not disrespectful of people’s views.”
